Q:
Do I need to know how to swim to do Peyow® Aqua Pilates?
A: You do not need to be a swimmer to do Peyow® Aqua Pilates. We
use buoyancy and floatation devices in the workout. For those who cannot
swim, no deep water exercises are advised. It is advisable to make
sure to use a pool that has a lifeguard on duty and NOT to swim or
exercise in a pool alone.
Q:
What is the difference between this and Aqua Aerobics?
A: Peyow® Aqua Pilates concentrates on exercises that are powered
from the center of the body, rather than moving the limbs to increase
heart rate without engaging the core muscles. Very often in Peyow® Aqua
Pilates we focus on the stabilizing (or still) parts of the body rather
than the moving parts.
Q:
Pilates Mat classes are usually lying down on a mat. How can you
do that in water?
A: Peyow® Aqua Pilates exercises are in different positions, seated,
standing, floating, etc. so that you are training to stabilize your
core muscles in every position. It is similar to the Pilates equipment
exercises with the resistance of water, noodles and dumbbells.
